I was first attracted to Christian Science eighteen years...

I was first attracted to Christian Science eighteen years ago by the life of a cousin. The second time I visited in her home I found that she was looking for someone to stay with her aged mother for three weeks while she herself took a trip to Boston to her Association meeting. She had her trunk all packed, although she still had no money with which to make the trip. She was sure that it was right for her to go, and that God would provide the needs for the trip in due time. Her cheerful faith so impressed me that I offered to stay with the mother, although I thought that the money for the trip would probably never materialize. However, the day before the time to leave, her company gave her a bonus—something they had never done before at that time of year—of more than enough to cover her expenses.

I enjoyed the time with the mother very much, and read the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It was like water to a thirsty soul, for I was very unhappy at that time.

When the cousin returned I asked her to help my baby for constipation. The baby and I were both healed at the same time, although I had not told her that I was suffering from the same thing. Whenever there has been a slight return of this discordant condition I have only had to rid my thinking of the thought that was bothering me then—resentment—to have it fade to its native nothingness. Our home life became very happy.
