Christian Science has been a wonderful help in connection...
Christian Science has been a wonderful help in connection with my teeth. Once, while struggling with resentment, caused by a sense of bondage to false environment, I was healed of a very severe toothache by reading aloud from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the chapter called "Animal Magnetism Unmasked." Although not conscious of any relief before falling asleep, I awoke the next morning quite free, and the pain has never returned. A so-called chronic abscess formed, said to have been caused by the root of a tooth being misplaced, but in spite of remarks to the contrary, it disappeared a year later without loss of the tooth. An understanding of the meaning of "house," which is interpreted by Mrs. Eddy as the consciousness of Love (see Science and Health, p. 578), opened the way for us to establish our home amid more congenial surroundings.
Slow healings of shingles and nervous prostration taught me invaluable lessons. After treatment was asked for, I had no physical pain and was able to carry on as usual, but otherwise conditions did not improve; so I resolved to do my own mental work as far as possible until the next step presented itself. At last my husband sought help to enable him to deal with my mental distress and irritation. No mention was at first made to the practitioner regarding the physical difficulties, yet the exhaustion and fatigue ceased instantly, and following two or three treatments the other symptoms quickly disappeared. The relief from this prolonged nightmare was so marvelous that I felt I had been awakened suddenly from a hypnotic sleep.
Brought up in a home where adherence to religious creeds had only served to separate loved ones, I especially appreciate the wonderful sense of unity in family relationships that a knowledge of Christian Science brings.
