In your issue of November 16, which has just come to my notice, there is a report of a sermon entitled "Peace and War."

In dealing with the reactions of various religions to war, the speaker includes his concept of the Christian Science attitude, and it is this concept which I ask space in your paper to correct.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, does not teach that pain must be ignored, but writes in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 130), "Christian Science, properly understood, would disabuse the human mind of material beliefs which war against spiritual facts; and these material beliefs must be denied and cast out to make place for truth."

Mrs. Eddy also shows that peace can come on earth only as individuals practice the Golden Rule, and follow Christ's teachings in the Sermon on the Mount.
