For many years it has been my privilege to read the beautiful testimonies of healing as recorded in The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel, and in later years in The Mother Church I have listened to expressions of gratitude from Christian Scientists from all over the world. These testimonies have been a source of inspiration and help, for they truly scale "the pinnacle of praise" (Manual, Art. VIII, Sect. 24). Yet I can truthfully say that I have never heard or read a testimony from anyone who seemed to me to have any more cause for gratitude than have I.

My mother was healed through Christian Science when I was a few weeks old. She had been told that she could live only a short time; but she could not believe that it was God's will that she, a mother of four little children, should not live to rear her family, so she prayed to God that His will be done. Her prayer was answered by the visit of a Christian Science practitioner. Up to this time my mother had never heard of this Science, but she accepted it gratefully and was healed of a complication of troubles. During my childhood I had many healings as a result of her application of this truth. Twenty years later my mother passed away, and I found that the "seeming vacuum" was "already filled with divine Love" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 266). Grief was absolutely prevented by a wonderful sense of the motherhood of God, divine Love, and my heart sang and rejoiced in the assurance that all was eternally well with my human mother. This understanding of the motherhood of God is the most wonderful thing that has come into my life.

To tell of all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science would be a long story. There have been healings of physical difficulties; toothache, insomnia, distressing sick headaches, influenza, and very serious difficulties with my eyes, have all been overcome. One healing for which I am particularly grateful was of a condition that seemed to be pneumonia. I became ill on a Thursday, and that evening a Christian Science practitioner was called. I was very ill Thursday night and Friday, but by Saturday morning the congestion was relieved; on Sunday I was up all day, and Monday I went to the office where I am employed and worked all day, and felt no further inconvenience. There is no phase of my life that has not been benefited by Christian Science, but that which means the most to me is the steadfast assurance it brings of the existence of God, ever present, guiding and guarding.
