Turn Thou to God

Does grief surround,
And press its aching weight upon thy breast?
Do cares abound,
And steal from thee thy rightful joy and rest?
Then turn thou to thy God, where peace is found,
And songs of happy praise shall from thy lips resound.

Does sin bring shame,
And point thee out as one stained and defiled?
Does sickness claim
That thou art Adam's weak and erring child?
Turn thou to Truth, its purifying flame
Will cleanse thee, make thee well, and free thee from all
blame.
