South African Opinion

In the issue of the South African Opinion of May 17 last, there appears an article entitled "Belief and Magic in the Treatment of Disease."

It is an eclectic review which suggests wide research, and postulates close study of all the varied items which comprise the subject. But the dogmatic statement, "Although the theory of faith healing differs from the theory of Christian Science the power controlling them both is suggestion," indicates that the author has but very limited information in respect to one item—Christian Science healing.

Now, it may reasonably be conceded that, as Christian Science claims to be an exact Science, either its methods of healing should be submitted to personal test, or its teaching, as set out in the writings of its Discoverer and Founder, should be studied carefully and without bias, before any attempt is made to pass judgment on it.
