Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

A local minister spoke very kindly, telling his congregation that Christian Scientists were happy and cheerful and seemed to have something that his own people did not have, and asked them, "What is it?" He answered by saying: "They have the true spirit of Christ. They live it, love it, and are proving it."

The following are extracts from letters of editors: "We would not be without this invaluable paper which furnishes us with most refreshing reading after the other dailies have been laid aside." "The Christian Science Monitor is the most ably edited paper that comes into our office." "Our office has indeed found the Monitor of great interest and value. It is truly a wonderful paper and we not only find it extremely good but we frequently find its editorials and some of its other material of value to our subscribers and we use it—giving, of course, the paper due and proper credit." "We shall be very glad to continue receiving your international daily newspaper because very frankly while I find it of value in a business way on account of the very excellent editorials it always contains, many of which we reprint with due credit, it has become one of the most interesting publications received in our home, I believe, and if I failed to bring it home from the office daily after perusing it myself, there would be complaint heard from most of the members of the family."

During the year, fifty-four references to Christian Science were made in newspapers and periodicals. Thirteen letters of correction were written, eleven of which were printed.
