Understanding God's Omnipresence

Healing in Christian Science, through the understanding of God's omnipresence, is the demonstration of "Emmanuel, . . . God with us." This understanding is not dependent upon time, space, or other material conditions, since God knows none of these limitations of sense. Therefore, from a scientific basis an understanding of the omnipresence of God is always available as it is humanly needed.

Throughout his healing ministry Jesus illustrated the truth of the foregoing statement. A particular incident is of special significance. A centurion—a man of good reputation as a philanthropist in his community—had a servant who was at the point of death. Hearing of Jesus and his healing work, the centurion sent certain Jewish elders to the Master with the plea that he heal the servant. Luke's account narrates that the elders pled that the centurion was worthy. Jesus responded to their entreaty by going with them. When the Master was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him bearing the message, "Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: . . . but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed." Thus the centurion voiced his faith in the healing power of Jesus' understanding of God's omnipresence.

It is the constant, conscious reliance upon the operation of the omnipresent divine Principle which results in healing in Christian Science. This reliance is always necessary to good healing work.
