I should like to share with others a beautiful proof I had of God's loving care and protection. During an all-day walk in the woods, my husband and I missed the trail and found ourselves in the late afternoon on top of a mountain far from our home, which at that time was in a large city. With great difficulty we made our way through thick underbrush down to an old wood road. As it was fast growing dark we had great fear to meet, but the lines from our Leader's beautiful hymn

(Poems, p. 14),

"Shepherd, show me how to go
O'er the hillside steep,"

were of great help. We pushed rapidly on, not turning to right or left, but obeying the command to go forward. Before complete darkness fell, we came to a tool shed built by woodcutters. Not far from the shed was a wild apple tree by a stream of water, the first food and drink we had seen that afternoon. There was just time to pick some apples, fill the canteen, and take refuge in the shed before complete darkness surrounded us. The night was spent in prayer and thanksgiving to God for providing "a table in the wilderness" and protection from wind and rain. We later learned that this shed was the only refuge in those wild mountains. At dawn we retraced our steps, picked up the lost marker, and in a few hours were out of the woods. A woman in the first little hamlet on our way showed us great hospitality, inviting us into her home for rest and breakfast.

This experience has been of wonderful help to me in times of fear and seeming limitation. I have been fed in the wilderness—how can I ever doubt God's complete salvation? Truly, "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).

I came to Christian Science for healing of an impediment in my speech which I had had from childhood. I was selfconscious and unhappy, and thought that I had a cross to bear. What a comfort it was to learn that God never afflicts man—that man does not have to submit to error of any kind. Christian Science has leveled mountains of fear in my thought and has made life worth living for me. I was healed of inflammatory rheumatism in two treatments; also of constipation and other physical ills. I had an instantaneous healing of a sprained ankle through a clear realization of God's perfect man. I have been protected in dangerous situations and from injury and broken bones during accidents.

All that I am and have I owe to Christian Science. I have been comforted in sorrow and have gained a quiet confidence and serenity through the understanding of this beautiful truth. I am deeply grateful to God for Christ Jesus and for Mary Baker Eddy. I wish also to express my gratitude for the unselfish practitioners who have helped me on my way.—(Mrs.) Alice White Wright, Mount Vernon, New York.
