Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Few letters of correction were required during the past year. One such letter, printed in papers in the Spanish language, brought the Committee two inquiries in Spanish from men who desired to obtain Science and Health. Another letter of correction, printed in French in L'Union Nouvelle of Los Angels, opened the way for the publisher to receive a year's subscription to The Christian Science Monitor, which was given to him by Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Angeles, in exchange for nine dollars' worth of advertising space in the paper. This space was used by the church to advertise its Reading Room.

The healing aspect of Christian Science lectures delivered in Southern California was enhanced by the printing in newspapers of more than one hundred full reports of lectures and of many partial reports. A man in San Bernardino, who knew very little of Christian Science, read a full lecture report in a newspaper and gained from it an understanding of God that changed his whole outlook on life, with the result that he began to study Mrs. Eddy's teachings and was helped physically and financially. Another man, who is not a Christian Scientist and who held a very important public office in Los Angels, was deeply impressed by a report of a Christian Science lecture that was printed in the Illustrated Daily News of Los Angels. He wrote to the Committee on Publication in part as follows:
