A speech delivered before the joint service clubs of Toronto, and reported in the Daily Star, would prove to be interesting reading if it were not for the inaccuracy of some of the statements.

Christian Science, or "divine Science" as it was referred to by the speaker, is not a system of "quackery." This had already been proved in the personal experiences of a number of individuals who were listening to the address. Through the teachings of this religion they, as many others, have learned that God governs through spiritual and not through material laws; that the laws of Spirit are ever present and universally available; that they far transcend in potency and effectiveness the so-called laws of matter or materia medica, and are able to heal, when properly understood and utilized, even those diseases which are commonly referred to as incurable. Christian Science gives the calm, clear statement of Truth, and confirms its claims by its works. It was because of the effectiveness of its healing ministry that the right of individuals to practice and to depend upon Christian Science for the cure of human ailments was recognized by the Ontario government after an exhaustive investigation by a royal commission, and recorded in the Drugless Practitioners Act of 1925.
