"Freely ye have received, freely give"

"Freely ye have received, freely give." As one who has greatly benefited since taking up the study of Christian Science, I wish to send my testimony in the hope that another may be helped. When I first heard of this Science, fifteen years ago, other members of my family and I were very much in need of help. Our mother at that time was suffering from a severe complaint, and in our love for her each of us strove to serve her, almost to the point of trying to outdo the other, thus causing strife and discord in the home. I remember with great joy when I realized for the first time a little of the meaning of the commands, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," and, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." I saw clearly that in our home we were not obeying those commands. This was a revelation to me, and from that time I earnestly sought to put God first in my life and to love and serve each member of my family. I saw for the first time in my experience that harmony must prevail where spiritual healing is desired.

Immediately following this little understanding I began to experience healings myself. A small growth on my body disappeared, and quinsy, from which I had suffered each year previously, ceased to appear. I was grateful that my eyes had been opened to see something of this truth which Christ Jesus lived and taught, and which our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, brought to light again. I knew that I had found that for which I had been seeking for a long time.

From my first healings in Christian Science the path has been very joyous, though at times the way has appeared very steep. My husband and I give out gratitude each day for this guiding light and for the goal which we have in view, namely, true and perfect reflection. How thankful we are to be proving each day that there is one Mind only, God. Each day I live I am realizing a better sense of health and more happiness and freedom through my understanding of this beautiful truth. I value this understanding more than anything else in the world.
