Enlightenment

Lord , send Thy light! so sped the humble prayer,
That suffering sense of darkness might be healed;
The loving grace of God the need supplied
As to the waiting thought came Truth, revealed.

The light was present, ever had been where
False thoughts of sadness claimed reality;
In radiance gleamed Love's message, writ for all:
Eternal life, joy, peace, are all for thee.

With gladdened heart the seeker looked to find
Life's page illumined, clear its meaning ran.
The sacred Word was plain, its guidance sure
To full awakening in God's likeness, man.
