Fasting

To fast is not to grieve with downcast look;To fast is to reject the carnal mindWith all its hates, and fears, and empty pride,Deceptive, wrong desires that do enslave. To fast is dwelling in Christ-consciousness;To starve the sin that would have man believeThat God has not provided for his need,That good is helpless, truth of no availTo guide in paths of joy and happiness.

Thus turning from misleading mortal senseWe fast, and touch the healing robe of Christ.
