"And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." It is with deep reverence and gratitude that I acknowledge God's goodness to me in sending me Christian Science.
About twenty years ago I was without hope, a nervous wreck, praying daily that God would end it all. I would have taken matters into my own hands, but something seemed to tell me that I should have to work it out beyond the grave. In despair I prayed silently to God to send me light, and different people I met told me of Christian Science—but I had "ears" and did not "hear." The doctor had pronounced my case neurasthenia, which appeared to be incurable according to medical science. I visited him three times a week and seemed to be getting worse steadily. Finally he told me that his medicine could only partly help—that if my mind was not at rest I should not be benefited wherever I might go. He was a very kindly doctor, and several times advised me to try Christian Science, as he had had patients who had been healed by it. That was the answer to my silent prayer, but I did not know it then.
At last, when in sheer desperation and not knowing which way to turn, I met a friend who invited me to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. At the close of the meeting tears were streaming down my cheeks. My friend asked me what the trouble was. I told her that I was crying because I was so glad. I felt that I had been carrying the world about on my shoulders and that I had dropped the burden at the testimony meeting. The next day I visited a practitioner, who most lovingly gave me a treatment, after which I felt as if I were walking on air. I returned home and was able to do all my work without any fatigue. All the physical ills vanished almost immediately; the mental growth was slow, but steady and sure. We have had many other beautiful healings in our family, too numerous to mention.
