Words cannot express my gratitude for all the blessings...
Words cannot express my gratitude for all the blessings which Christian Science has brought to me, and for all the dear friends who have helped me. For the past eight years this Science has been my only physician, and the Bible and the textbook my only medicine. During this time I have had many healings, but the one for which I am most grateful is the overcoming of a great fear of doctors.
Over three years ago I was taken very ill with severe pains in the glands of my neck; and after I had been absent from my place of business for three days, a doctor's note was required. I was having help from a Christian Science practitioner, and when I told her of my fear she asked me to read the ninety-first Psalm. She also explained that I had to put self out of consciousness and be obedient. An appointment was made for me to see the doctor on the following day, although at the time it seemed impossible for me to stand. Two hours before I was due to see the doctor, I managed to dress myself; and the following words of our dear Leader were of great help to me with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony." The doctor did not ask me even one question, but gave me the required note. Upon arriving home I found I was completely healed, and I resumed my duties the following week.
In my home I have seen a poisoned hand, erysipelas, and many minor difficulties healed by the application of this wonderful truth, and using the knowledge of the ever-presence of God. I am indeed grateful that the Christ, Truth, was brought to our home, grateful to God, and to Christ Jesus, the Wayshower, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for grateful religion to all mankind. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and for being privileged to help in the work of a branch church.—(Mrs.) Elsie Madge Smallwood, Acock's Green, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
