With a grateful heart I wish to give this testimony. I have had many healings through reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals. Other demonstrations have been realized by reading the religious article on the Home Forum page of The Christian Science Monitor.

My first healing was of an abscess in my side. The doctor told me that medicine could no longer help me and that an operation would prove fatal. My eldest sister, who had been studying Christian Science for many years, sent me a copy of the Sentinel and advised me to try Christian Science. My husband asked a lady who was a Christian Scientist to come and talk to me. We read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, although it seemed quite impossible to me to do so because I was nervous. The lady told me that I should call a practitioner for help. I did so, and that night was the first night I could sleep without medicine. In three weeks I was able to do my housework.

For six years I was free from all ills; then again I had to prove that "trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff,—a broken reed, which pierces the heart" (Science and Health, p. 66), and I was healed of a so-called nervous breakdown, following the birth of a child. My husband was healed of a serious case of blood poisoning in his hands, and I was healed of the same condition in my feet.
