I am sincerely grateful for Christian Science, which has met my every need for many years, and for our beloved Leader, who has revealed this beautiful truth to us. I came to Christian Science when I was a child, not because I thought that it could help me, but because I had lost all faith in doctors and medicines. I had been under the doctors' treatment for about eighteen months, but they were unable to help me, and at last said that the only hope for me would be an operation, but that they scarcely expected me to recover from it. Three or four doctors made several tests which proved to them that I had tuberculosis of the kidney. I also had stomach trouble, very weak eyes, and many other ailments. A friend came to the hospital and said that her father had been healed in Christian Science, and asked me why I did not try it.
The first time I talked to a Christian Science practitioner she asked me if I loved God, and I remember thinking, No, I do not—and I don't think anyone really does; for to me God seemed very unjust because I thought He caused me to be sick. Then this dear practitioner told me that God is Love, that He did not cause me to be sick or to suffer any more than would my human parents. I knew that my parents had done everything that was humanly possible to make me well and happy. With the thought of God as the source of all love and as my Father-Mother, and with the help of the practitioner, I was completely healed in about two weeks.
I am truly grateful for Christian Science and for the knowledge that I am gaining of God as Love.
