Promotion

The hope and expectancy of promotion fills us with eagerness to do our best in order that we may prove our worthiness for it. If we do our work well, true promotion is sure to come, and each successive stage will be crowned with this happy result.

It is sweet to hear the message voiced by Jesus in a parable, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord," and to know in our hearts that we have earned this reward. What a wonderful spiritual promotion is promised in Mrs. Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 66), "Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love"!

Christian Science, as we depend upon it daily, makes the way simple and happy, since it helps us to follow Jesus' example. When we are uncertain or fearful, if we ask ourselves, What would Jesus have done in this situation? our perplexities begin to vanish, and with renewed courage we take our footsteps more surely and confidently. Christ Jesus was always successful in all that he did because he leaned upon divine Principle and depended not upon human will or human energy. We, as students of Christian Science, become accustomed to seeing what others may call difficulties as rich opportunities to prove that the understanding of Truth is adequate to master all difficulties, to gain for us the promotion into higher grades of learning, and to rid us of ignorance through learning more of Truth.
