Basler Nachrichten
The report on the conference of clergymen in the Basler Nachrichten states that one of the speakers said sickness is not merely false thinking, as Christian Science teaches. Christian Science is based on the Bible and acknowledges the teachings of Christ Jesus in every detail. Jesus said: "I can of mine own self do nothing;" and, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." Christian Science also teaches that it is the divine Mind alone that heals. God, and All-knowing, in His perfection, does not know anything of "false thinking." Everything, therefore, that seems to oppose Him can be only error, even if the human, mortal mind designates it as thinkable. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read (p. 4), "To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done."
