Freely is Good Received

Freely is good received, by none should it be taken
From him who clasps it, having need of more;
Good gifts proceed from Love, the prodigal forsaken
Finds at his home what kindness kept in store.

The outlaw thief removes the portion others gather,
And bandits cheat the laborer of his toil;
But all can be receivers, and, children of one Father,
Be blessed by sun, and rain, and fertile soil.

God makes us rich in life if we with love receive it,
And we may thrive with joy, and grow in peace;
God gives enlightenment when opened eyes perceive it,
So from our darkness shall we win release.

Thrice happy then is he who has no part in thieving,
But gains his riches by the heavenly plan;
Good courage shall be his in honestly achieving
His own well-being while he blesses man.
