As I recall the great help which Christian Science has...
As I recall the great help which Christian Science has been to me during the past seventeen years, I feel a deep sense of gratitude, and a desire to help others to obtain a demonstrable understanding of this Science of Life.
My first experience in Christian Science was a healing of ulcers of the intestines. I had tried several months of training in a gymnasium and had had the services of three physicians and an osteopath, but seemed to be growing worse. I shall always be grateful to the friend who recommended Christian Science to me, and to the practitioner who helped me to gain this healing and the spiritual enlightenment which led me to desire a fuller understanding of the divine Principle which heals. The course of my life was changed from that very hour. A love for worldly things began to change to a longing for spiritual understanding. Study of the Christian Science literature healed me of a desire to smoke, drink, and use profane language. These healings came about in an easy and natural manner, just as a child discards his toys as he advances in his education.
I am also happy to be freed from another form of bondage—that of being dominated by human personalities in the business world and in other walks of life. Many other types of fear were overcome, including the fear of talking extemporaneously before large numbers of people, and of testifying at the Wednesday evening meetings of the local branch church. Resentment has been overcome with an understanding love. A great sense of satisfaction has accompanied the gaining of some understanding of the beautiful truths of Christian Science. I have also experienced healings of blood poisoning, colds, hoarseness, lameness, soreness after shaving, and constipation.
