In Psalms we read, "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." There have been many times in my life when I should have been overcome by fear and discouragement if it had not been that I had learned through Christian Science that I can experience God's loving protection here and now.
I am very grateful that I was reared in Christian Science, for it has met my every need. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School until I was twenty years old, and never cease to be grateful for all I was taught there. The first time I felt it necessary to depend entirely upon my own understanding of this truth to sustain me was when I was but twelve years of age. It seemed best for me to be away at school a good part of the time for several years, among entire strangers for the first few months. I had never spent a night away from both parents in my life, so this seemed to be a very trying experience, but it all worked out beautifully, and I learned many valuable lessons.
Our two children were born under Christian Science treatment, and have never tasted medicine or been under a doctor's care. They are both strong, healthy, bright children. We have seen stomach disorders, colds, adenoids, a broken toe, decayed teeth, measles, chicken pox, scarlet fever, one so-called surgical case, infantile paralysis, summer complaint, blood poisoning, eczema, influenza, neuritis, and many other disorders healed in our home—often so quickly that other members of our family never knew of the inharmonious condition. Some of these demonstrations were made through work done by ourselves, and many others through the loving, strong help of Christian Science practitioners.
