Since studying Christian Science I have found the statement...
Since studying Christian Science I have found the statement true that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." The first time I attended a Christian Science church was on a Wednesday evening, and I could not help but feel the presence of God there. At that time I was wearing glasses, which I had worn for a period of about eighteen or nineteen years, and that night my eyes were healed, although I did not know it until the following day when I went to my business without my glasses.
I did not take Christian Science very seriously until a few months later, when I found myself without funds and employment. This surely was "man's extremity," so I turned to the Christian Science Reading Room, for I felt that there I should find some kind of help or perhaps a word of encouragement. I found what I was seeking, and within two hours I had a position. Then I took up the study of Christian Science more seriously, and many old complaints and habits left me, including bondage to the use of tobacco. During this period I also found that I was being spiritually uplifted, which I now understand was the true healing.
I am most grateful to our Leader for establishing the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, so that there we may humbly give thanks to God for blessings received; also for the fact that she forgot self sufficiently to want to share her blessings with the world. I am also grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; and for helping others to find their way out of the material and into the spiritual.
