Wolverhampton Express and Star

In yesterday's Express and Star you report an address by a vicar. He predicts the unity of the Church of England and Nonconformity, and then continues to advise that, in the meantime, Church of England and Nonconformists work together in a determined attack on "fancy religions," including Christian Science under this heading.

The reverend gentleman must be unacquainted with facts relating to Christian Science, or he would not have designated it thus. Christian Science, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 114), "lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body." It makes of practical use today the teachings of our Master. It asks only that it shall be judged by its fruits, and every week in Christian Science churches people of all nations and tongues testify to the healing power of the living Christ, as revealed to them through the study of this divine Science. It teaches one infinite God, good, and recognizes good wherever it is found.

Christian Scientists are rejoicing in the great accomplishment of unity which has been brought about in the Methodist denomination. This unity is inspiring and constructive, but it has not been achieved by the spirit which destroys what is blessing mankind, or which launches a "determined attack" on those who are humbly trying to walk, as far as they apprehend it, in the pathway of our dear Master.
