Signs of the Times

[Rev. A. E. Gregory, as quoted in the Austin Herald, Minnesota]

It is a blessed secret, this living by the day. Anyone can carry his burden, however heavy, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live patiently, lovingly, and buoyantly until the sun goes down. And this is all that life really means to us—just one little day. Do today's duty: do not weaken and restrict yourself by looking forward to things you cannot see, and could not understand if you saw them. ... Short horizons make life easier, and give us of the blessed secrets of brave, true living.
