In the Closet of Prayer

Weary, disheartened, I turned from life's woes,
Seeking relief from my care;
Silently, humbly, with famishing heart
Entered the closet of prayer;
Bowed in the closet of prayer.

In through the stillness a beautiful thought
Came, like a voice from above,
Winging its way from the infinite Mind,
Bearing a message of love;
Wonderful message of love.

Sweetly it nestled, this beautiful thought,
Softly it whispered to me:
God is thy Father; He cares for His child;
Trust Him, He cherisheth thee;
Tenderly cherisheth thee.

Wakened, renewed, by this wonderful thought,
Love, like an eagle's strong wing,
Lifted my heart in a triumph of peace,
Bidding me worship and sing;
Worship, and gratefully sing.

Out from the closet rejoicing I came,
Faith's steady light shining clear.
God is my Father, I joyfully sang,
Trusting with never a fear;
Never a lingering fear.
