It is with a heart full of gratitude, love, and humility...
It is with a heart full of gratitude, love, and humility that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. My life was one of almost complete invalidism, as I had gone through four operations, one for cancer in which some organs were removed, one for hemorrhoids, one for removing the appendix, another for bladder trouble. These left me in a most depressed and unhappy state of thought. The physicians prescribed several kinds of narcotics, but these I refused. I was like the woman in the Bible who "suffered many things of many physicians, ... and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." Each night I prayed to be taken out of this world of suffering, and when I awakened I was disappointed because I was alive.
I had always been a Bible student and loved the beautiful promises God has given us in His Word. Many times I wondered why my most earnest prayers seemed not to be answered, and after becoming a student of Christian Science I realized that I had first to know how to pray. I was sent to a large city for further treatment from noted surgeons. When I was told I was to have four more operations, something told me to get away, and I left the sanitarium at once. My brother had asked me before I went why I did not try Christian Science, and after leaving the sanitarium I asked him to bring a practitioner to me. She left some literature with me, and by reading this when I could and holding to the truths expressed therein, I was able to make the trip home alone. I first borrowed, then bought, a copy of Science and Health, and was completely healed of all the ailments which the doctors had told me I had, and for which, they said, I should have to be operated on. I was also healed of constipation which had bothered me since childhood.
This was ten years ago, and all healings have been permanent. Since then we have had cases of influenza, headaches, bad burns, pains, many forms of inharmony, and lack healed by applying Christian Science. My husband was healed of pneumonia in one day, with only two visits from the practitioner. On the second visit she told him to dress and have supper with his family. He did so, and was completely free.
