Being deeply grateful for all the blessings which I have...
Being deeply grateful for all the blessings which I have received in Christian Science, I wish to give my testimony.
Brought up in a Protestant religion, I tried to live the life of a Christian. However, sickness seemed to be with us almost all the time, and I then believed it was sent from God. The doctors diagnosed my case as heart trouble, ulcers of the stomach, chronic appendicitis, and constipation. For these ailments they prescribed various diets, which were followed without the desired results. Because of heart trouble an operation was out of the question. Also since childhood I had suffered from rheumatism. In the fall of 1924 a complication set in. X-ray pictures revealed infection in the bone in my left shoulder. The doctor strapped my left arm tightly to my body, using adhesive tape, and it remained in that position for three weeks. After that I carried it in a sling for three weeks more without any signs of improvement. Prior to this I had taken mineral fume baths, naprapath treatment, and electric treatment. Finally I was told that my entire left side would be paralyzed within a year. It was then, in August, 1925, that I decided to investigate Christian Science. I had heard of this Science, but was inclined to ridicule it, until in my extremity I decided to investigate its possibilities. A friend referred me to a practitioner one afternoon, and that evening, free from pain, I removed my arm from the sling. However, the stiffness remained, but in three weeks I was able to do my family washing. From then on various ailments with which I had suffered disappeared; with their disappearance resentment also was overcome. We have had many other healings in our family.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; for having an opportunity to serve in the church activities; for the spiritual uplifting and sense of peace and happiness which come through study of Mrs. Eddy's works. My one desire is that I may be able to help others as I have been helped.
