I have received many blessings, both morally and physically,...
I have received many blessings, both morally and physically, through the study of Christian Science. Out of every experience I have gained something. Each trial has made me more sure of the divine power that always meets every human need.
About two years ago, when I was going upstairs, my right kneecap sprang completely out of its socket, throwing me headlong. I was unable to rise and was carried to bed in great pain. The limb hung limp and useless. A Christian Science practitioner was called and he began to work for me. While the pain did not subside immediately, my general condition was entirely harmonious. At the end of five days the kneecap slipped back into place and I was able to walk. It has never troubled me since.
At one time I broke the socket bone in my left arm. I was taken to a hospital to have the bone set, but a practitioner was called first. An X-ray showed the break, also the shattered condition of the bone. I took no anaesthetic while the bone was being set and the limb bandaged, and felt no pain; moreover, no casts or splints were used. I returned home at once. The doctor told me that it would be at least six months before I could use my arm, but in five weeks, lacking two days, the bandage was removed and I was able to use the arm. During the five weeks I slept very little, but felt no ill effects. My general condition was normal and steady and I never missed a meal. As soon as the bandage was removed I slept as usual.
