For a number of years before becoming interested in...
For a number of years before becoming interested in Christian Science I had suffered from nasal catarrh. I had tried various material remedies and treatments without receiving any benefit and had been told by our family physician and also by a specialist that nothing but an operation for the removal of a diseased bone in my nose would relieve the condition.
My first experience with Christian Science came while I was suffering from influenza. A member of my family called a practitioner over the telephone and asked for help for me, but no mention was made of the diseased bone. I had at this time three absent treatments and began reading the Lesson-Sermon and the periodicals. I was quickly healed of the influenza, but the throbbing pain in my nose, the headaches, and sleepless nights continued. One morning about a month later I was feeling particularly miserable, and upon stooping over to pick up something from the floor experienced a very sharp pain in my nose and the sensation of something bursting. I quickly put my handkerchief to my face thinking I was going to have a nosebleed, but instead I found in my handkerchief the bone that had caused me so much trouble. This mental surgery was performed without bloodshed, there being only the tiniest speck of blood on my handkerchief. There was no discordant after effect, and it has proved to be a complete and permanent healing.
This occurred over twenty years ago, and was a convincing proof of God's ability to heal all our diseases. In the intervening years we have had many healings in our family, and words cannot express my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for giving us Christian Science.
