It is with much gratitude that I give testimony to the protective, healing, and regenerative power of Christian Science as discovered, taught, and founded by our great Leader, Mrs. Eddy. It was the passing on of a loved one that caused me to seek for some explanation and satisfaction concerning life. This seeking was rewarded shortly afterwards by an invitation to a Christian Science lecture, in which the lecturer led me to see that Christian Science would meet my need. I am profoundly grateful for the provision of lectures so wisely made by our Leader in the Manual of The Mother Church.
A copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was bought and I began to read immediately. During the first study of this truly wonderful book, I found myself reading without the glasses which I had used for several years. "Before they call, I will answer." That was ten years ago, and glasses have not been used since.
A few months later, I read an article in the Sentinel which included the following extract from Science and Health (p. 124): "Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind. They belong to divine Principle, and support the equipoise of that thought-force, which launched the earth in its orbit." My consciousness was flooded with the spiritual sense of equipoise, no pressure anywhere in anything, and I was healed at once of hernia, from which I had suffered for thirteen years. The support was removed immediately and was not required again. Many minor faults of character were also overcome by the daily study of the Bible with the Christian Science textbook and with occasional consecrated assistance from practitioners, and healings thereby resulted. A cyst on my neck was also healed.
