It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I write this testimony of the healing and protecting power of divine Love as taught in Christian Science.

About sixteen years ago Christian Science came to me, and as this light dawned slowly upon my darkened consciousness I began to be lifted out of despair. All my life I had been sickly and considered very weak and delicate. There came a time after I was married when everything seemed to be going wrong and I went through a very trying experience that proved to me the uncertainty of materia medica, for we had consulted several physicians without receiving any help.

I was compelled to remain in bed for nine weeks and was told that I should never be well again. By the end of this time I was a mental and physical wreck with nothing to lean upon. A dear friend came to my assistance and lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and later invited me to attend a Christian Science lecture to be held in that city. I shall never forget the peace and quietness I felt in the church that day and how the words of Christ Jesus written on the wall rang through my thoughts, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I wondered what this truth was and if it could free me from the terrible bondage I seemed to be in. I was so steeped in materiality that only a few words of the lecture registered in my consciousness.
