The Lectures

PARIS, FRANCE (Second Church).

Lecturer: William Duncan Kilpatrick; introduced by Mrs. Alice Benson, who said:—

Jesus said, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." This light of Truth entered my life nearly fourteen years ago and awakened me from the darkness of mortal, material thinking. From childhood I had suffered from chronic bronchitis and rheumatism. For years I had been under medical care without getting any better, and eventually the doctors pronounced my condition incurable. I was full of fear and the outlook seemed hopeless. Then my attention was called to Christian Science. I asked a practitioner for help and received a complete healing. Since then I have had many proofs of the healing, protective, and comforting power of Christian Science. It is replacing fear and doubt with the spiritual understanding which reveals God as our loving Father-Mother, omnipotent, omnipresent Mind, to whom all our needs are known and by whom they are supplied. We learn in Christian Science that all the problems of human life are but the seeming effects of wrong thinking—false beliefs in a life and intelligence separate from God—and we prove our dominion over them by earnestly striving to reflect the Mind of Christ. Words can never express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who, through her unselfed love and spiritual inspiration, was enabled to give to the world that gift of God, Christian Science.
