Refuge

"Thy righteousness is like the great mountains."—Psalms 36:6.

I LIFT mine eyes unto the hills;
Their grandeur, strength, and calm
Bid anxious, restless thoughts to cease,
Revealing God's eternal peace,
A blessed healing balm.

Their strength reflects Thy strength, O Lord,
Their steadfastness is Thine.
O give me vision to discern
Thy might and power, and humbly learn
To claim that strength divine.

Those circling hills around me fold
As Thy protecting arm.
Though tempests beat and trials are long,
The comfort of that fortress strong
Gives safety from all harm.

Their changeless watch through cloud and storm
Recalls Thy constant care,
Thine everlasting Mother-love,
That lifts our thoughts and lives above,
To bliss beyond compare.
