The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
Roanoke, Virginia (First Church).
Lecturer: Paul Stark Seeley; introduced by Mrs. Minnie S. Avery, who said:—
Christian Science came into my life as an angel visitant when my mother was healed during my girlhood. She had been a sufferer from asthma for many years. When the dry climate and high altitude in Colorado failed to help her, and physicians no longer gave hope for her life, she turned to Christian Science for help. She found new life in the Christ, Truth, and became active, joyous, useful. I was too young at that time to realize how wonderful it was to have sickness taken from a home, but I could understand that Christian Science brought beauty into life. Mother was no longer afraid of newly mown grass or flowers, and for the first time we had roses on our table. One of my heart's desires was given me when we had a home with trees and grass and flowers. In later years I realized that Christian Science had brought the kingdom of God into our home and transformed it. I also learned that God is ever with me, and to look to Him in every need as an ever present help.
