I am grateful to God that Christian Science has come...
I am grateful to God that Christian Science has come into my life. About eleven years ago this wonderful truth was brought to my attention through the healing of a friend's mother. I soon purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to read it earnestly.
At that time my eyes were in such a weak condition that when reading it seemed necessary for me to wear glasses with violet-tinged lenses for protection from the light on the printed page. As I was reading the chapter "Christian Science versus Spiritualism," it came to me so clearly that we do not see with the material eye, but discern everything mentally, that I suddenly found I did not need the glasses; in fact, they became an obstruction rather than an aid for seeing. This unexpected healing made me very happy, as did also the understanding of God and His creation which began to unfold to me as I continued reading this book. Later, through the work of a practitioner, I was healed of severe chronic constipation and a weak heart. This last condition was corrected so simply and so quickly that I could hardly believe that the healing had come; but I have since found it to be a permanent one. Strength also has come to me which I never thought would be mine.
I should also like to mention a healing of what was evidently a dislocation of the spinal vertebrae resulting from a slight automobile mishap. The discomfort was so great that it was an effort to hold my head up straight, and even the light pressure of a hat was painful. I finally asked for help and left the practitioner's office with such an uplifted thought that all fear was gone. Later as I sat in a Reading Room, twice, very quietly, just below the base of my neck, something slipped back into place, and all discomfort vanished. It was a wonderful experience. God's presence seemed very near.
