I wish to express my gratitude for the many demonstrations...
I wish to express my gratitude for the many demonstrations of healing which have come to me since I took up the study of Christian Science. I had been suffering from hemorrhages for some time and had undergone an operation for a tumor and hernia, and yet my condition continued to grow worse. I had eight physicians, each of whom told me something different. I was advised that I should have to undergo another operation before I could be healed of the hernia, and was told that I could not live one year if I did not submit to this operation. I was not permitted to raise my hand above my head, my body was bound in bandages, and I was wearing a support.
After I had given up all hope of getting well, a Christian Science practitioner came to my home, telling me that if I knew God as He is, I should not be ill. This was the first time I had ever heard of Christian Science, and I asked this practitioner if she would help me. Treatment was begun at once, and I was asked what I should like to do that evening. I stated that it would be my greatest pleasure to get dinner for my husband and children. The practitioner told me that whatever it was right for me to do could be done without harming myself. My husband was working in the field when one of our little boys went to him and said, "Mother has found something to make her well." When my husband came home to prepare the evening meal, he found that with the aid of the other children I had already prepared it. After two weeks of Christian Science treatment, the bandages were removed, and in two months the support was laid aside and I was completely healed.
These healings took place in 1915, and Christian Science has been my only physician since. My family, also, have had many healings, including whooping cough, gangrene, influenza, broken bones, and measles. One of my sons had a very quick healing of appendicitis. A practitioner was called, and in one hour he was healed. The next morning he attended a Christian Science service with me. There has not been any return of this trouble in over five years.
