Sons of God

May it not truly be said that every sin, disease, or discord to which mankind seems to be subject is due, in some measure at least, to a belief that matter is creative? From the day of his birth each one is seemingly bound to the belief of material frailties, frivolities, vexations, and limitations.

In awakening mankind to the need of freeing itself from the false claims of heredity, and giving it the means for gaining this liberation, Christian Science is proving itself to be the greatest blessing of the age. Under the marginal heading "No fleshly heredity" Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 228), "Heredity is a prolific subject for mortal belief to pin theories upon; but if we learn that nothing is real but the right, we shall have no dangerous inheritances, and fleshly ills will disappear."

Christian Science practitioners can testify to the healing of many cases of supposedly incurable diseases and stubborn sins which, until the claims of fleshly heredity were handled in conformity with the teachings of Christian Science, had defied all efforts toward extermination. What new hope invariably stirs in the thought of one who, after believing that he was the victim of inherited sickness or sin, gains the light of Christian Science and understands the Biblical statement, "The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son."
