I wish to give just acknowledgment of the many benefits...
I wish to give just acknowledgment of the many benefits I have received through Christian Science. It healed me of a nervous breakdown which probably would ultimately have placed me in an asylum. I was also healed of severe headaches which specialists said could never be cured because they were inherited; and of other diseases such as neuralgia, rheumatism, hernia, kidney trouble, insomnia, lumbago, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and cramp in feet and limbs.
At one time I was healed through Christian Science of burns which resulted from the explosion of a can of gasoline, and which were so severe that they threatened my life. One foot had been so badly injured that for several days the physician and nurse thought it would have to be amputated. Two of our children were healed of ivy poisoning in the course of a night through earnest work, together with the reading of some of our dear Leader's poems. The healing was completed as we read the words, "His arm encircles me, and mine, and all" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 389).
Before becoming interested in Christian Science I had lost four children and had but one left; but in spite of the utmost kindness and care from an experienced physician this child, too, passed on. Later, after another little girl was born, I was able to heal her, through my own understanding, of the same symptoms of diphtheria which had taken the other children from me.
