[Written Especially for Young People]
Influence of the Sunday School
Students of Christian Science who have been brought up in its teachings are rejoicing, and always will rejoice, in the privilege they have had of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. As they have grown from childhood to manhood or womanhood, when trials and temptations have come to them, they have realized that the loving influence of the Sunday school has remained in their consciousness to help and guide them.
Most young children are teachable, and eager to put into practice what they learn. How important it is, then, that they should be taught those things which will help to build strong and noble characters! In this endeavor the Christian Science Sunday School plays an important part; and its scholars learn to grasp and, in a practical way, demonstrate the truth they have been taught there. Even though there may seem to be waywardness, no good is ever lost; and the seed of Truth which is so firmly sown through Christian Science in the consciousness of children, as well as adults, will sooner or later germinate and bear fruit.
When the schoolroom is left behind and the larger world of human activities is entered, the young students have to prove more conclusively their own individual grasp of Christian Science. The truth which they have learned in the Sunday school must be used and demonstrated by them, in order that they may be protected from the material beliefs and temptations which may seem to surround them. If they would be happy, healthy, and successful men and women, they must learn to think and act only in accordance with the law of God, good; in accordance with the governing divine Principle, Love.
