The anonymous poem which appeared in your issue of November 27 under the caption "Christian Science versus Common Sense" is so misleading that I should like to offer for the consideration of your readers a few facts about Christian Science.

That Christian Science heals, the world in general now admits; through its teachings many thousands of people have been lifted from invalidism and helplessness, sin and poverty, into lives of usefulness and joy. Signed and verified statements attesting the healings of all manner of disease and of other discordant conditions appear weekly in the Christian Science Sentinel and monthly in The Christian Science Journal, and similar expressions of gratitude for healings are given publicly at midweek meetings in Christian Science churches throughout the world. Furthermore, the last chapter of one hundred pages in "Science and health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, added "for the assurance and encouragement of the reader," is composed entirely of testimonies of people who have been healed through the "perusal or study" of this textbook (see p. 600).

Christ Jesus gives this definite assurance to his followers: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." The Christian Scientist believes this promise, and knows that in the measure of his understanding of the Scriptures is he able to obey the command of Jesus to "preach the gospel" and "heal the sick."
