I turned to Christian Science when the physician told me there was nothing known in medical science to heal me. The disease was diagnosed as psoriasis, and had been manifested on the body for about eight years, most of the time in a very severe form. After about nine months' study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I beheld myself free of this disease. Although I rejoiced much in the healing, I was not free of the fear of a return of the disease, as the doctor had said that, if it left me for a little while, it would come back. It soon manifested itself again in a more severe form than before. But my experience had convinced me that, even as Moses' manifestation of leprosy was but a "creation of mortal mind" (Science and Health, p. 321), so this seeming condition, coming from nowhere, could disappear into its native nothingness. I continued to study and apply the teachings of Christian Science, overcoming colds, sprained ankle, burns, extreme nervousness, insomnia, and many other unwelcome conditions. The study of Mrs. Eddy's other writings brought much progress. From "Unity of Good" I gained the understanding that God has no knowledge of sin and disease, and that the only consciousness is God, good; and this, held to persistently, resulted in my final deliverance from psoriasis. That healing occurred twelve years ago.

I am also very grateful for the healing of my daughter, when she was seven years old. She was taken ill suddenly, complaining of sharp pains in the abdomen, and manifesting a high fever and rapid pulse. For nine days she was under the care of a physician, who said that there was a pus formation there which should be drained. After consultation with another physician, an operation was declared necessary. As we did not care to submit to this, a Christian Science practitioner was called that night, and in the morning the child's temperature and pulse were normal, and she was asking to sit up. Her recovery of strength was rapid, although she had had very little food and had lost twenty pounds.

A more recent healing was that of influenza and a tipped or inflamed uterus, the pressure on the back causing such extreme pain that I was unable to stand or sit, and could lie only in certain positions. The second night after calling a practitioner the fever left, and the consciousness of the power of Truth was present. The other condition improved gradually, and in a few days I was able to go about part of the time. In two weeks I had resumed all of my regular duties.
