It is with great gratitude for Christian Science that I...
It is with great gratitude for Christian Science that I write this testimony. For twenty-five years my health had been failing, and the last ten years of that time I was very much of an invalid. One day a friend told me of Mrs. Eddy and Christian Science. She also told me that she had been healed of bladder trouble, with which I knew she had suffered in the past. I paid no attention to what she said, for at that time I was satisfied with the church of which I was a member.
My husband had taken me to all kinds of watering places and warm climates, and I had also had many kinds of baths. As soon as I was able I was placed in a hospital in Los Angeles, where I submitted to an operation. I had been home only a month when my nerves collapsed, and I lay in bed for five months, with doctors doing all they could for me, but to no avail.
After a year's confinement Christian Science was again presented to me by a friend of my husband. This time I was ready to listen. With the assistance of my husband I got on to a street car, being fearful of going in the automobile, to go to see a practitioner. I had to walk a long block after leaving the car before arriving at my destination. As I had not walked any distance for eighteen months I thought that a block was quite a walk. My husband had even carried me up and down stairs, so when the practitioner said, "Come up to my study, where no one can disturb us," it seemed almost an impossibility. I told the practitioner of all the aches and pains that I had passed through and all the stages of the sickness. While I was telling her all this she was denying it mentally, and when I left she offered me several Journals and Sentinels to take home to read. I finally arrived at the street car, and as soon as I was seated I realized that I was being healed of some of my ailments. Having been unable to read for two years I was grateful to find that I was able to read the Christian Science literature all day. I grew better steadily and attended the Christian Science church and lectures.
