I can never express in words my gratitude for the "pearl of great price," Christian Science, which our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given to the world.

About seven years ago I was in extremis. I had been confined to bed for four months with internal hemorrhage. The doctor attending me stated that I must submit to a major operation. During the period of waiting the thought came to me that the Christ could perform miracles just as much today as when Jesus was on earth. Shortly afterwards I regained sufficient strength to go to Brighton for a short period. It was there that Christian Science was presented to me. From that time I began to know that life was worth while after all. I discarded all medicines and doctors, and took up the study of Christian Science in earnest.

At that time we were in very distressing financial difficulties. In fact, many times it seemed that our home would be taken from us to meet the demands of money lenders. Through the tender love of a Christian Science practitioner, after two interviews, employment and supply were demonstrated, and in a short while our debt was paid.
