It would be impossible for me to express in words the deep gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me and mine and is doing for the whole world.
I was wearing glasses at the time I took up the study of Christian Science, and had been told by an oculist that it would be necessary for me to wear them always. After a few months' earnest study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I laid them aside. That was over twenty years ago, and I have not needed them since, as my eyes have been normal in every way. During these years I have had many healings. The one from which I gained the most, perhaps, was a very slow healing from a nervous breakdown. It was impossible for me to sleep more than a few hours each night, and all the waking hours were filled with dark forebodings of mortal mind, great fear of I knew not what, discouragement, weakness, worry, and so on; but through it all I clung to the understanding I had of God and my relationship to Him, sometimes having help from a practitioner, and at other times depending upon my own study; and as wrong thoughts were replaced with spiritual understanding the healing gradually came. This healing took place sixteen years ago.
I cannot fully express my gratitude for the uplifting and sustaining power of a loving Father-Mother God in the face of almost overwhelming sorrows, and for the protection I have had through the years. My thought goes out in appreciation to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for what she has done for humanity, giving to the world a demonstrable religion, and to the practitioners, ready to help when called upon.—(Mrs.) Fleet Allen, Spokane, Washington.
