It is regrettable that your last issue should contain a letter, under the caption "Christian Science," which one who respected another's right to worship God according to his highest understanding would never have penned, and which shows that the writer has practically no knowledge of the teachings of Christian Science.

Let me assure your readers that no pressure is ever brought to bear upon any individual by a Christian Scientist to take up the study of Christian Science, or to apply for Christian Science treatment. The right to make one's own decisions in such matters is conceded to those interested in this religion and its prophylactic and therapeutic activities. True, it often happens that a whole family become students of Christian Science through witnessing the healing and regenerating power of this beautiful religion in one of its members. And Christian Scientists would wish always to be judged by the Master's test, "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Our critic objects to what one might term the metaphysical explication of our Lord's Prayer which Mrs. Eddy gives in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but the term "travesty" cannot possibly be applied to that which gives such an apprehension of this all-embracing prayer as to enable those who appreciate it to heal the sick, even instantaneously.
