Cause for Rejoicing
Many are the passages in the Scriptures that bid us rejoice for the goodness and bounty of God; and the student of Christian Science knows that the habitual practice of gratitude and rejoicing for the many manifestations of the Father's love is most helpful in working out the problems that present themselves to him for solution. Every healing of sickness, disease, lack, limitation, or sin, however small it may seem to be, is proof of the truth and infallibility of this Science. It proves that the divine power that was present to heal in Jesus' day, namely, the ever living and ever active Christ, Truth, is present here and now to save mankind from the bondage of materiality, of self and sense.
To realize, even though faintly, this wonderful truth, to know of a certainty that God's presence, power, and tender, compassionate love are present at all times and under all circumstances, is to fill our hearts with peace, confidence, and joy. It was this sublime confidence that enabled Paul to declare, "Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God," and the Psalmist to sing with assurance, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
When the light of Truth breaks upon our consciousness, filling our hearts with its blessed effulgence, we are filled with the loving desire to acquaint all men with it. Having, indeed, found the "pearl of great price," we wish that all might share our treasure; we wish to preach this new-old gospel of healing "to every creature." Our hearts sing within us, and we are joyous and happy in all our activities. At times the claims of sense may try to hide the light of Truth from us, but error disappears before the loving and rejoicing thought: it cannot stay where joy and love dwell.
