My mother became interested in Christian Science when...
My mother became interested in Christian Science when I was a boy in my teens, and it was my privilege to attend the Christian Science Sunday School for several years. For this I have been very grateful. Never having been ill to any extent, I could not seem to work up much interest in Christian Science for myself, but since my mother had taken it up and she manifested so much interest in it, I tried my best to study it too.
At this time I want to express my extreme gratitude for the Christian Science literature, especially the Sentinel. In the beginning it seemed to me that only the testimonies and some of the articles could hold my interest; but the continued reading of these answered so many questions for a beginner in Christian Science, as I was, that it was not long before I was reading almost all of the articles. As years go by, I am appreciating more and more the value of the Christian Science literature, and would suggest to anyone, especially beginners, that if they read this literature, as well as study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, they cannot fail to have their many questions answered.
I have received many blessings from the study and application of Christian Science. It has been an excellent help in business, as well as in the home, in the demonstration of supply, and of harmony between employees. Christian Science has taught me that fear is not real, and that it is the root of many evils. It now seems to me, after many years, that fear has been one of my great weaknesses; but now that I am able to see and understand its nothingness, words cannot express my gratitude that I am gradually conquering this evil.
