In reply to the letter published in your issue of October 11, let me answer your correspondent's questions seriatim.

(1) Christian Science teaches that God is infinite Spirit; that He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent; that He is infinite good; that the universe, including man made in the image and likeness of God, is the spiritual manifestation of God, Spirit. With this as a positive basis, it follows that evil, which must be the suppositional absence of God, good, cannot be considered as an entity, and therefore is unreal. All will acknowledge that two and two make four, everywhere and always. All will acknowledge that the belief that two and two make five is nowhere as a reality, and can only seem to exist in unenlightened or ignorant thought. By no conceivable means could the erroneous belief that two and two make five ever become a fact. It has no real source or origin, it is not sustained by intelligence, and enlightenment always destroys it. This is precisely the situation in regard to good and evil.

(2) God being Spirit and infinite, He must be infinite Person. When Christ Jesus made the statement, "I and my Father are one," he was referring to his real spiritual selfhood or Christ, which antedated Abraham and existed as the manifestation of God, as he himself said, "before the world was."
